Lets talk about Mental Illness!

Today is the day Canadians are breaking the stigma associated with Mental Illness and we join the conversation about #mentalhealth. I believe we need to start breaking down the barriers associated with mental illness and focus on healthier ways to deal with mental health.

I have suffered from depression in the past. 4 of my dearest friends have suffered from mental health. Someone dear to me killed himself due to mental illness. There is nothing wrong with talking about mental illness. I wish I knew more 9 years ago about how He was feeling, maybe we could of stopped him from ending his life. ‪#‎letstalk‬ In an ideal world, we won’t need celebrities to get the media focused on mental illness.

When I started showing signs of depression, my parents wouldn’t understand the reason why I was feeling depressed. According to them, I had everything a girl my age wanted. My Parents didn’t know levels of certain hormone production by the thyroid gland can be factors in depression. You never know what someone is going through. People you least expect struggle with depression everyday, all we need to do as humans is understand, and help!
